Language
The Ith language is very similar to Irish (Gaeilge), a Goidelic language. It sounds musical when an Ith speaks their native tongue. Some words are throaty but the sound is softened due to the race's weak vocal cords. Below are listed a number of names, words, and phrases that have no direct translation and/or words that could be translated that would not be translated in casual conversation.

- Altex : An extra-sensory organ in the Ith brain.
- Alloway, Masata: Common words used both in greeting and during farewell.
- Arn: A measurement of time, roughly equivalent to an hour.
- Aura Morph: See the definition for 'Freslin'.
- Astro (Astrometrics): A position onboard an Ith starship. The Astrometrics officer often works under the flight control officer.
- Abaya: The female version of the robe worn by Ith. It often has a high collar. These robes resemble the Arabic thawb. The abaya is either worn at ankle length or stops at the foreleg.
- Abat: The male version of the robe worn by Ith. These robes resemble the Arabic thawb. The abat is worn at ankle length.
B
- Barken: A Ith animal that resembles a large canine. They are often kept as pets and have six legs. They bark like dogs.
- Bassim Oil: Once a plant derived oil used in sexual lubrication. Now the common term for artificial sexual lubrication. Bassim Oil is often water or silicon-based as the Bassim plant is exceptionally rare.
- Blenirian Grain: A hearty, wheat-like grain of Ith origin. It is used in similar applications to wheat grain. It is a common crop plant .
- Blez: Roughly translated, 'relax'.
- Blotching: Extremely, very; similar to 'frelling' or 'fucking'.
- Bonosphere: Outer layer of atmosphere.
- Borderwarks: Roughly translated, 'tears' or 'waterworks'.
- Brocus Seed, Brocus: A seed once ground into powder that helps arrest infection. It is similar to various antibiotics.
- Budong: A huge creature similar to a brontosaurus but with boney plates covering its back and tail. It is a herbivore. It is native to Inaya.
C
- Cacking: The act of dying. Slang analogous to 'croaking' or 'kicking the bucket'.
- Caftan: A long sheer bed-robe worn almost exclusively by Ith females.
- Calcivore: A carnivorous quadruped of Ith origin as big as a large horse. The term is interchangeable for the word, 'carnivore'.
- Chakan Oil: A type of synthetic oil use to lubricate moving machine parts.
- Chelsik Fire Hose: The hose of a Ith firefighter.
- Cholian Curd Salad: A Ith delicacy that consist of shaved and roasted Calcivore meat and various vegetables.
- Clorium: A powdered numbing agent that can cause paralysis, severe nerve damage, and death if inhaled or swallowed. It is tasteless and odorless.
- Coldivara: A lush plant that often decorates the insides of stations due to their low-light suitability and carbon-dioxide to oxygen conversion rate.
- Commerce Planet: A planet specifically used for inter-system trade or bartering.
- Contala Tea: A slightly alcoholic tea-like drink of Ith origin.
- Corvinium: An extremely precious metal similar in value to platinum.
- Crank: A mild Ith expletive.
- Conn (Flight Control): A position onboard an Ith starship. It is synonymous with flight control. The officer manning the position is responsible for the actual piloting and navigation of the starship.
- Comms (Communications): A position onboard an Ith starship. The communications officer works with the tactical officer to interpret sensor data and is responsible for interpreting, answering, and relaying extra-ship communications. Not every ship has a communications officer. The tactical officer is responsible for communications in such cases.
- CO (Chief Officer or Commander): The commander of an Ith starship.
- Chailís: God or gods. Specifically it refers to the three deities of the old Ith faith. It is also the name of that faith. (See the religion and philosophy section.)
- Corcra Tree: A tree that is very similar to an Oak but it has purple foliage that turns red in the fall. native to Inaya.
- CRA (Counter Rocket Artillery): A duet 30mm pneumatically driven, six-barrel, liquid ammonia-cooled, electrically fired rotary cannons that are specifically used as point defenses.
D
- Dag-yo: Commonly used slang. Roughly translated, 'cool' or 'awesome'.
- Das-Trak Krjtor: A harsh Ith expletive.
- Dench: A Ith unit of measurement roughly equivalent to a kilometer.
- Dominar: A title in Ith government. The equivalent is a governor.
- Drad: Commonly used slang. Roughly translated, 'best', 'wild', or 'rad'.
- Draz: A common Ith expletive.
- Drannit: Ith slang for a part of the anatomy, often used as an insult. Rough equivalent to the derogatory term, 'bastard' or 'asshole'.
- Dren: Equivalent to 'shit', an unwanted substance, or act.
- Driblocks: A derogatory term, roughly equivalent to 'slut'.
- Dredgenaut: A common Ith insult.
- Dordbhdhil: A cello like musical instrument.
- DCU (Drone Control Unit or Damage Control Unit): A drone control unit links a number of drone AI and allows direct control of those drones from a central location. A Damage Control Unit is a combination of internal force-field emitters, Point Deflector Arrays, and Integral Fields that maintain the structure of the ship and mitigate the loss of atmospheric pressure in crew compartments when critical damage has been sustained to a vessel.
E
- Eema: The back, ass, or butt of a humanoid.
- Etal Cavity: A part of the Ith brain situated near the brainstem.
- EO (Engineering Officer): The chief engineer onboard an Ith starship is responsible to upkeep and make repairs of the ship through delegation of duty.
- Éadach: Leg wraps and/or arm wraps that are often worn with traditional Ith apparel. These are ribbon-like strips of cloth that are tied around the foreleg. They can be tied around the forearms also. The primary reason for these wraps is to provide more external support to the forelimbs and tie up loose fabric.
F
- Fahrbot: Equivalent to 'crazy', 'insane', 'mad', 'nutso', or 'demented'.
- Fa-pu-ta: A commonly used Ith swear or insult.
- Farko: Equivalent to 'ridiculous' or 'hogwash'.
- Fek, Fekface: Ith for 'ass' or 'asshole'.
- Fekkik: Ith for 'stupid', 'naive fool', or 'dipshit'.
- Fellip/Fellip Nectar: A plant based creature native to Ithica. Its nectar is used to make an alcoholic drink resembling beer.
- Festival of Pedrark: An annual Ith festival.
- Filgran: Equivalent to 'bloom'.
- Food Cube: Compact cubes made from animal, vegetable, and mineral substances which are sustaining, if not palatable to many life forms.
- Frak: Common insult or expletive. Equivalent to 'bugger' or 'screw'.
- Frangle: Commonly used with sarcasm. A part of something real that does not exist.
- Frell: A well-known word, used as a replacement for the coarse Anglo-Saxon monosyllable indicating sexual intercourse both directly and idiomatically.
- Frellwit: Equivalent to 'idiot', 'foolish', 'brainless person', or 'shit-for-brains'.
- Frellnik: Something that smells foul.
- Freslin: An attractant drug or powerful aphrodisiac. The drug occurs in at least two varieties. One variety, when ingested makes others seem more attractive to the user. The second ariety causes the user to emit pheromones and to appear differently to others. This effect is called an aura morph.
- Frodank: Equivalent to 'wonky', 'stupid', or 'ridiculous'.
- Frotash: A type of Ith garden.
- Frotein: A refreshing beverage similar to an energy drink or a softdrink.
- Froth Mouth: Someone who is frothing at the mouth. Equivalent to 'lunatic'.
- Flight Ops: Ith starships that have hangers also have a flight deck operations officer who is responsible for flight deck traffic and managing daughter craft or other assorted small craft that is attached to the vessel.
G
- Galarion Scale: A temperature scale similar to Celsius or Fahrenheit.
- Gappa: A vector on a spatial grid, defined by two sets of six known points.
- Granta's Brax: Equivalent to 'rat's ass'. Something that is worthless.
- Garda: A Ith term. A term used to define a family member or a person with the same surname. Equivalent to 'clansmen'.
- Gavork: An aromatic medicinal herb that is often used to clear respiratory problems in sick patients.
- Gelft/Gelft Sty: An animal native to Ithica that resembles a pig. Equivalent to 'mess' and parallels 'pig sty'.
- Geometric Pregnancy: A result of genetic modification by Ith bred into a naval unit onboard a ship. Pregnancy is accelerated so that they are not out of service long-term.
- Grondeer: A leader in Ith society.
- Greebo/Greebol: Equivalent to 'fool', 'ninny', 'idiot', 'silly person', or 'dipshit'.
- Grezz Conductor: A derogatory term for a person in a position of leadership that has no reason to be in said position or who does not deserve said position.
- Grimmit: Equivalent to 'coward' or 'wimp'.
- Gris: Similar to Dren. Equivalent to 'shit' or 'crap'.
- Grolack: High quality foodstuff.
- Grolash: A mild insult. Equivalent to 'moron', 'fool', or 'idiot'.
- Grot: Equivalent to 'grunt', 'mindless', or 'line soldier'.
- Grotless: Equivalent to 'witless'.
- Gagh: These worms that are intended to be served are fed only a mixture of diluted calcivore blood, which they find very unappetizing and therefore only consume when they are nearly starving. Just prior to being served, the worms are poured into a bowl of thick sauce which contains an extremely flavorful herb which the worms find very delicious, and devour, even though it is toxic to them, and kills them within minutes. Gagh is considered best consumed live.
- Geas - An idiosyncratic or social taboo, whether of obligation or prohibition, similar to being under a vow or spell. A geas can be compared with a curse or, paradoxically, a gift. Most ith believe that violating a geas will cause the infractor to suffer grave dishonor or even death.

- Hamman: Starboard side of a vessel.
- Hetch: A measure of distance equal to an astronomical unit.

- Jingjog Bread: A hearty bread made of ground blenirian grain, targ blood, and various spices. It is similar to blood pudding.

- Klaver: A musical instrument similar to the piano.
- Khaleesi: The female head of a house.
- Khalasar: A house of the ith people. Distinct from a kiith as the members of a kiith can have different family names.
- Khal: The male married to the khaleesi.
- Kiith: A collection of khalasar. See the 'kiith' section.

- Micron: A length of time just over a minute.
- Metra: A unit of length roughly equivalent to 1 kilometer.
- Microt: A length of time equivalent to 1 and 1/3 seconds.
- Milon: A unit of length roughly equivalent to a mile.
- Metre: A unit of length roughly equivalent to 1 meter.
- Mainistir - Similar to a monastery. It is a holy place dedicated to the Chailís.

- Ops (Operations Management): A position onboard the bridge of a Ith starship. Many shipboard operations involved scheduling resources or hardware that affect a number of departments. In many such cases, it is common for the various operations to present conflicting requirements. It is the responsibility of the operations officer to coordinate such activities so that mission goals are not jeopardized.
P
- Pipius: A type of gourd. The skin is discarded once it is baked. It can be mashed like a potato but has a sweet taste like honey.

- Qo'nos: A crab like crustation. It is a filter feeder and is often fried. It tastes like soft crab but looks more spider like.

- Solar Cycle: The time it takes Ithica to orbit its star, 62.7 days.
- Sec (Security Management): A position on an Ith starship. The chief security officer is responsible for the internal security of the ship.
- Scaba Fly: A type of flying insect that is similar to a mosquito. Its bite draws blood and injects a weak combination hallucinogenic and paralytic. It is deadly to the ith only in swarms. It is native to Ithica but has been spread to Bomana Prime, Edani Prime, and Inaya.
T
- Treblin: Port side of a vessel.
- Tactical (Tact): A position onboard an Ith starship. A wide variety of starship defenses and offenses are available to the chief tactical officer. Often there is more than one tactical officer reporting to a chief.
- Targ: A deer like creature with very long legs. It is native to Ithica but has been transplanted to Inaya by the ith. It is a food source.
- Tréitheach - Gifted in a metaphysical, preternatural sense. For the ith this term denotes one gifted beyond the common Ith. For the ith it defines one very strongly gifted in telepathy and telekinesis. It could easily be confused in translation as a term used to define anyone who has telepathic or telekinetic ability, even rudimentary ability.
